ASSESSMENTS

Our therapy sessions are provided by an experienced, NZ-registered Clinical Psychologist and are grounded in evidence-based, client-centred practice.
Therapy is tailored to your individual needs and may support difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, stress, adjustment to injury or illness, and broader emotional or psychological concerns. Sessions are collaborative, paced, and focused on building understanding, coping strategies, and meaningful change.
Cost: $200 + GST per session

This is a one-off 90-minute consultation with a NZ-registered Clinical Neuropsychologist
The consultation focuses on understanding your current cognitive, emotional, and functional presentation in the context of an injury or neurological condition.
There is an opportunity to discuss testing appointments following this appointment based on presenting needs.
Cost: $545 + GST
Who is this for?
This service is ideal if you:
Want a professional opinion about changes in your thinking, memory, or emotional wellbeing
Are unsure whether a full assessment is needed
Need clinical insight to guide next steps
What’s involved?
A structured clinical interview
Observation and discussion of your cognitive and emotional presentation
A written summary letter with impressions and recommendations
What will I receive?
You’ll receive a summary letter outlining:
Key points from the consultation
Professional insights into your current functioning
Suggestions for helpful next steps (e.g., further assessment, support services)
This document can be shared with other healthcare providers involved in your care.

This is a one-off, approximately 2-hour assessment with a NZ-registered Clinical/Neuropsychologist, designed to establish a baseline of your current cognitive and functional functioning.
The assessment focuses on providing a structured snapshot of how you are functioning at this point in time, using targeted cognitive screening measures, allowing subsequent reassessment as needed in the future to monitor change.
Cost: $800 + GST
Who is this for?
This service is ideal if you:
Want to establish a cognitive baseline for future comparison
Are involved in high-risk work, sport, or leisure activities
Are taking out a new insurance policy (e.g. health, disability, income protection, or life insurance)
Have a family history of medical or neurological conditions that may impact cognition over time (particularly conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease).
Have a new medical diagnosis or treatment that may affect cognitive or psychological functioning, such as requiring chemotherapy or radiotherapy, or having surgery under general anaesthesia.
What’s involved?
A structured clinical interview
Targeted cognitive screening selected to allow for repeat assessment over time
Clinical observation of cognitive, emotional, and functional presentation
What will I receive?
You’ll receive a written summary outlining:
Your current cognitive and functional profile
Key findings from the assessment
Guidance about whether further assessment may be helpful
This summary can be shared with other healthcare providers involved in your care.

This is a formal assessment of decision-making capacity conducted by a NZ-registered Clinical Psychologist. The assessment is suitable for use in legal, court, or statutory contexts, where an opinion regarding capacity is required.
The assessment focuses on whether an individual has the cognitive ability to understand, retain, weigh, and communicate decisions relevant to a specific question (e.g. financial, personal welfare, medical, or living arrangements).
Cost: $1090 + GST
Who is this for?
This service may be appropriate if:
There are concerns about an individual’s capacity to make specific decisions
A court, lawyer, or statutory body has requested a formal capacity assessment
Capacity needs to be considered in the context of neurological illness, brain injury, dementia, or cognitive decline
Family members or professionals require an independent clinical opinion
What’s involved?
The assessment typically includes:
A clinical interview with the person whose capacity is being assessed
Neuropsychological assessment focusing on cognition relevant to capacity
Consideration of medical, psychological, and functional history
Where appropriate, an interview with a support person or relevant third party (e.g. family member, attorney, or caregiver)
Review of relevant background information or documentation (if provided)
The exact structure of the assessment will depend on the specific capacity question being addressed.
What will I receive?
You will receive a formal written report that:
Addresses the specific capacity question referred
Provides a clear clinical opinion regarding capacity
Is written in a format suitable for legal or court submission
Can be shared with solicitors, courts, or relevant agencies as required

A comprehensive neuropsychological assessment provides a detailed understanding of how your brain is currently functioning. It explores a wide range of thinking (cognitive) skills, including memory, attention, language, problem-solving, processing speed, and multitasking.
This type of assessment also considers how psychological factors such as low mood, anxiety, fatigue, or post-traumatic stress may be affecting your cognitive function and everyday life.
Cost: $3480 + GST
Who is this for?
This assessment is recommended if you’ve experienced:
Neurological events (e.g., stroke, traumatic brain injury, meningitis, hypoxia, or carbon monoxide exposure)
Repeated head injuries (e.g., sports concussions)
Age-related cognitive decline
It may also be required by insurance providers (such as ACC) for rehabilitation planning, return-to-work considerations, or medico-legal reporting.
What’s involved?
A clinical interview with a neuropsychologist
One or more neuropsychological testing sessions tailored to your presentation
A comprehensive written report
Time for analysis, interpretation, and personalised recommendations
The process takes multiple appointments. If less testing is required, your total cost will be adjusted.
What will I receive?
You’ll receive a full, structured report describing your cognitive profile and psychological presentation. It will include:
Test results
A formulation of contributing factors
Tailored recommendations to support rehabilitation and everyday functioning
Where appropriate, the report will also offer guidance for your whānau, workplace, or healthcare team.
